Assistance in daily living and self care activities

Assistance with daily living includes providing support for regular personal activities and supervision of personal daily tasks.

National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) plans are designed to provide a participant with the reasonable and necessary supports to take part in daily activities to encourage participation in the community, such as entering a local tennis competition or attending a weekly choir.

What are daily living supports?

Daily living supports under the NDIS cover a broad range of activities and are split into two main categories: Core Supports and Capacity Building Supports. These support categories form an integrated approach to support a participant to have the same choice and control in their lives as a person without a disability.

Core Supports enable participants to complete daily life tasks and achieve their goals, including:

  • Assistance with daily living: such as bathing, dressing, meal preparation, medication assistance, and domestic support including assistance with cleaning, gardening, shopping and attending personal appointments.
  • Consumables: assisting participants to purchase items to use everyday such as incontinence aids and nutrition products.
  • Assistance with social and community participation: supporting participants to take part in social or recreational activities within their communities. This can also provide the opportunity for a supported holiday.

We also arrange respite care according to your need and wishes

Short-term Accommodation & Assistance (STA/respite)

Short-term accommodation and assistance (STA) is an NDIS support previously known as respite.

Our STA service supports people with disability to have a short stay away from their usual home, while providing planned respite for families caring for a person with disability. Our service is flexible and designed to be responsive to each family’s circumstances.

When it comes to STA, flexibility is our focus. Clients can choose to tap into our STA service for a few hours a week , use STA funding to plan for a holiday, arrange for our trained staff to support them at home* or even plan a break at our newly renovated holiday cottage in Hornsby. No matter the plan, our goal is to accommodate our client’s needs.

  • Personalised nutrition, meal planning and cooking
  • Personal care
  • Medication and appointment support
  • Attending day programs or maintaining existing routines
